Jerry Rago has been a professional actor for over 20 years. After an athletic career in baseball, finishing up with an affiliate team of the Detroit Tigers, Jerry auditioned for Drama school in New York and entered a two year program. He had originally wanted to pursue a career in Musical Theatre having sung since childhood. It was there he met Drama director Beryl Smith-Durham. Through her encouragement and guidance he became impassioned for the Actors work and a burning desire grew to be a great story teller. The work included Classical as well as Musical Theatre. After training for 2 years Jerry began working in plays and musicals in New York and different parts of the country. This led to auditioning for The London Academy of Music and Drama. A year of intense classical training in London also included work in four plays of Shakespeare, Chekhov and Restoration. Since then Jerry has continued working in various plays and musicals in New York and different cities of the country. He has also done roles in some feature and independent films. He continues to strengthen his acting and singing skills, with brilliant drama teacher Joe Wilson, and one of the first ladies of the Musical Theatre, Alice Brannagan. Jerry has also just completed a new commercial and narration voice over demo. He still has a great passion for baseball, can still hit a fastball, is a diehard Yankee fan, and roots for fellow team mates who have gone on to coach in the Major Leagues.
